Important: A Doctor’s Note Requires a Medical Evaluation
Be careful with websites that promise an instant doctor's note without actually evaluating you.
A legitimate medical excuse should be based on an evaluation by a licensed healthcare provider. We don't simply sell pre-written notes or guarantee that a note will be issued.
Your Privacy Matters
We understand that you may not want your employer or school to know the intricate details of your health.
Your work or school excuse generally documents only the dates you are excused without disclosing your specific diagnosis.
Rest assured that your medical information is handled in accordance with applicable healthcare privacy requirements.
A Few Limitations
-
A doctor's note cannot simply be issued on request without an evaluation.
-
Excuse notes are generally intended to reflect a current (or ongoing) health issue. We can’t retroactively excuse (go back) an absence that started more than 2-3 days ago.
-
Always check your employer's or school's policies regarding acceptable medical documentation and telehealth visits.
-
Patients under 18 must have an adult present during the visit.
-
We can provide an excuse for up to 3 days. If you need additional time off, an in-person evaluation at our North Port clinic may be required.
-
If your symptoms suggest that you need a higher level of care, we may recommend an in-person evaluation or other appropriate medical care instead of telehealth.
Questions About Our Services?
Can I get a doctor’s note right away?
Can I pay for doctor’s note with insurance?
No. While traditional doctor (or urgent care) visits for medical notes might be covered by insurance, our services are strictly out-of-pocket.
This eliminates insurance delays as well as costly operations that go along with billing insurance. Thus, the low affordable price of a Careborne visit as compared to a similar service provided by a brick-and-mortar clinic.
Yes. When you book a visit with one of our licensed doctors, your note is often ready within minutes of your consultation. Your note arrives in your email shortly after your visit.
How many days can I be excused for?
Online excuse notes are generally limited to a maximum of 3 days within a 30-day period without an in-person examination.
If you need additional time away from work or school, you may need to be evaluated in person.
What conditions can qualify for an online doctor’s note?
Many common illnesses and health problems can be evaluated through telehealth, including:
-
Acute illnesses (colds, flu, bronchitis, etc.)
-
Musculoskeletal injuries (sprains/strains, fractures, etc.)
-
Pain conditions (headaches, back or neck pain, arthritis, etc.)
-
Stomach illness, nausea, or diarrhea
-
Mental health needs (stress, depression, anxiety, etc.)
-
Chronic condition (flare ups)
-
Other situations that may require time away from work or school
Our provider will determine whether your condition can be appropriately evaluated through telehealth and whether a note is medically appropriate.
Are online doctor’s notes legitimate?
Yes. A telehealth visit is still a medical visit. If your provider determines that documentation is appropriate, the resulting note can serve the same purpose as documentation provided after an in-person visit.
Be cautious of websites that sell instant notes without evaluating you. Those are very different from legitimate telehealth care.
Using a legitimate telemedicine provider service like Careborne ensures you’ll always get a note accepted by your employer or school. And you get a medication prescribed, if needed.
This is real care. So is the note.
What does a doctor's note include?
A typical work or school excuse note includes:
-
The provider's name and credentials
-
Our contact information
-
The date of your evaluation
-
The dates you are being excused from work or school
-
Appropriate provider signature or authentication
What if I need adjustments to the note?
While minor adjustments like date corrections are possible, we cannot alter medical assessments or add false information. Any changes must be based on legitimate medical evaluation.
Can I get a doctor's note without being seen?
No. You need to be evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider before a medical excuse can be issued.
The evaluation doesn't necessarily have to happen in person. For many straightforward situations, a phone conversation (or even an asynchronous visit via text) allows a provider to evaluate your symptoms and determine whether an excuse note is appropriate.
Can’t I get a doctor's note from urgent care?
Of course, you can. But if your situation can safely be handled through telehealth, why drive to a clinic, sit in a waiting room, and pay the higher cost of an in-person urgent care visit?
With Careborne, you can be evaluated online, receive a prescription, and get a doctor’s note for only $54.
When is an in-person visit required?
Telehealth isn't appropriate for every situation. An in-person evaluation may be necessary when you need:
-
A hands-on physical examination
-
Diagnostic testing or procedures
-
Evaluation of symptoms that cannot be adequately assessed online
-
Treatment for a potentially serious or worsening condition
-
A longer period of medical leave requiring further evaluation
If your provider believes you need in-person care, we'll tell you. You won’t be charged for the visit.
Can my employer verify the authenticity of the note?
Yes. Employers can verify the note's authenticity and basic information - not your private medical details. These remain confidential.
Employers can contact us via the website, email, or phone. The verification process confirms the authenticity of the doctor’s note while maintaining your medical privacy.
$72.
