Step 1 — FREE Consultation

A provider will speak with you by phone about your symptoms, relevant medical history, and why you're considering an X-ray.
Together, you'll determine whether an X-ray makes sense and whether Careborne is the right place to help.
The consultation is FREE.
If we can't appropriately help you, you owe us nothing.
Step 2 — Receive Your Referral
If an X-ray is medically appropriate, we'll prepare your imaging referral and email it to you – usually within 30 minutes.
You can then take your referral to an imaging center of your choice. Compare locations, prices, and scheduling options and choose what works best for you.
You choose where and when to have your X-ray.
Step 3 – Get Your Results
Once we receive the radiology report, we'll review the findings and get back to you with our recommendations.
You won't be left wondering what your report means. We'll explain the findings in plain language and help you understand what comes next.
If your results suggest that you need additional evaluation or a specialist, we'll discuss your options and can get you an appropriate a referral.
What Can X-Rays Show?
X-rays remain one of the most commonly used imaging tests in medicine. Depending on the body part being examined, they can help identify a variety of conditions, including:

What does an online visit involve?
Can you guarantee an X-ray referral?
No. Not every symptom or condition requires an X-ray.
Our free screening consultation is designed to determine whether imaging is appropriate for your situation. The decision to provide a referral is ultimately based on your provider's medical evaluation.
If an X-ray isn't appropriate – or if you need an in-person examination, a different type of imaging, or another form of care – we'll tell you.
If we can't appropriately help you, you pay nothing.
The initial consultation typically takes about 15 minutes. A Florida-licensed provider will discuss your symptoms, relevant medical history, and reason for requesting an X-ray.
If imaging is clinically appropriate, we can provide an imaging referral.
How much does an imaging referral cost?
The Careborne consultation costs $54. This includes an evaluation by a Florida-licensed provider and, when medically appropriate, an imaging referral.
Because Careborne is a direct-pay practice, we don't bill insurance for the consultation.
Can I get an X-ray referral the same day?
Most referrals are processed within approximately 30 minutes after your consultation.
Will my insurance cover the test?
Possibly. If you have insurance, the imaging center can usually submit the study to your insurance company. If your plan doesn’t cover it – or if you have a deductible or other out-of-pocket costs – you’ll be responsible for the remaining balance.
The good news is that many X-rays are relatively inexpensive. For example, a basic chest X-ray may cost less than $50 at some imaging centers.
It pays to shop around. Independent imaging centers often offer significantly lower cash prices than large hospital systems. Ask about the self-pay price before scheduling your test.
Can you guarantee a referral?
No. Careborne can provide referrals for many diagnostic imaging studies, including X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans. But not every symptom requires imaging, and sometimes an X-ray simply isn’t the right test.
That’s why we start with a free screening appointment. We’ll discuss your symptoms and medical history and determine whether imaging is appropriate.
Ultimately, the decision to provide a referral rests with your provider. If we determine that a referral isn’t medically appropriate, you pay nothing.
Does your referral include results interpretation?
Yes. Once we receive your radiology report, we’ll review the findings and email you an easy-to-understand explanation, along with our recommendations for what to do next.
If the results raise questions or you’d like to talk through them, you can schedule a follow-up consultation. In many cases, though, a straightforward explanation of the report and recommended next steps is all you need.
You don’t have to figure out your imaging report on your own.
Can I get the results directly from the imaging center?
Yes. You can request a copy of your imaging report directly from the imaging center. It’s part of your medical record, and you have the right to access it.
Can I have an X-ray if I’m pregnant?
Always let your healthcare provider and the imaging facility know if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant.
Although X-rays can sometimes be performed safely during pregnancy when medically necessary, pregnancy may require a more individualized evaluation and coordination of care.
For that reason, Careborne does not recommend using an online referral service during pregnancy. If you’re pregnant and think you need imaging, it’s best to work directly with your regular healthcare provider, who can determine whether imaging is appropriate and coordinate any necessary follow-up care.
