What is virtual medical care?

How is Careborne different from other telehealth platforms?

We're intentionally small, personal, and unhurried.

You speak to a licensed health care provider before you spend a dime – not an off-shore call center. If we can’t help, you will tell you so. You pay nothing.

Our providers "go Careborne" in their spare time because they enjoy seeing patients at a slower pace, getting to know them as people rather than their medical diagnoses.

And we're not finished when the visit ends. If you have a quick follow-up question, you can communicate directly with your provider by text or email. Again, there are no intermediaries. It’s between you and your doctor.

That's what we mean when we say: Go Careborne.

Virtual medical care lets you connect with a Arizona–licensed healthcare provider for things that require prompt attention but aren't life-threatening – think cold and flu symptoms, infections, rashes, work excuse, or a medication refill you can't wait on.

Depending on the situation, your visit may take place by video, telephone, or secure electronic communication.

How much does a telemedicine visit in Arizona cost?

Most straightforward virtual urgent care visits are covered by our QuickCare $54 service.

More complicated or extended visits – for example mental health evaluations – may require additional time and have a higher fee, typically $72 to $96.

We'll tell you what the cost is before you commit to the visit, so there are no surprises.

Again, Careborne stands apart from other telemedicine platforms by offering a free initial consultation. If we determine that we can't appropriately help you, you won't be charged for that consultation.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. We believe you should know what you're paying for before you agree to treatment.

Our $54 QuickCare service covers a straightforward visit and, when medically appropriate, the prescription and a doctor's note.

Do you accept insurance?

We don't bill insurance. Careborne is a self-pay platform.

That keeps things simple: no insurance authorization, no claims, no waiting for an insurer to decide whether your care is covered, and no surprise bills later on.

Most patients find that paying out of pocket gives them greater control over their healthcare, with a faster and smoother experience – especially for straightforward medical issues.

What can Careborne treat?

Arizonans commonly turn to Careborne for:

✓ Acute problems

✓ Prescription refills for stable, existing conditions

✓ Stress-related concerns

✓ Laboratory and imaging referrals

✓ Work or school excuse

Not sure whether we can help? That's exactly what the free consultation is for.

If your provider determines that you need an in-person examination, diagnostic testing, imaging, or another type of care, we'll tell you and help point you in the right direction.

What type of healthcare provider will I see?

Depending on your needs and provider availability, you may be seen by a physician, nurse practitioner, or appropriately licensed behavioral health professional.

Our providers are licensed to practice in Arizona and carry professional liability coverage.

Are online doctors legitimate?

Absolutely. Telehealth is healthcare delivered through technology. You're still being evaluated by a licensed healthcare professional, who uses your medical history, symptoms, examination findings, and clinical judgment to determine what treatment is appropriate.

Telehealth isn't right for everything. But for many common and straightforward medical problems, it can be an efficient and convenient way to receive care.

Is Careborne available anywhere in Arizona?

Yes. As long as you are physically located in Arizona at the time of your visit, you can be seen.

And yes, location matters.

If you’re in California, for instance, we can still treat you. All you have to do is cross the Blythe-Ehrenberg bridge and be physically in Arizona at the time of your telehealth visit. Once your visit is complete, your prescription can be sent electronically to any California pharmacy.

Do you also have a physical office?

Careborne is based in Florida and provides telehealth services to patients in multiple states.

If you're in Florida, you can visit our North Port location.

Will I get a prescription?

If a prescription is medically appropriate, your provider can send it electronically to your pharmacy.

There is never a guarantee that medication will be prescribed. Your provider must first determine that a medication is appropriate for your particular situation.

Can I get a prescription without being seen?

No. A medication should not simply be prescribed just because you’ve requested it.

A licensed healthcare professional needs to evaluate your situation and determine whether treatment is appropriate.

Can I get a doctor's note?

Yes. When appropriate, Careborne can provide a work or school excuse.

Do you prescribe controlled substances or pain medications?

That’s a complicated topic.

Controlled substances are subject to a complex set of state and federal regulations. For that reason, we rarely prescribe controlled substances through telehealth and evaluate these requests carefully on a case-by-case basis.

One exception is buprenorphine. We are developing a telehealth service that will allow eligible patients to receive buprenorphine treatment remotely, in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.

What about mental health: depression, anxiety, or insomnia?

We can evaluate and treat many common mental health concerns through telehealth.

When medication is appropriate, we are comfortable prescribing many non-controlled medications.

We take a more cautious approach with sedating or potentially habit-forming medications such as Xanax, Valium, and Ambien. These medications can have significant risks and are often better managed within an ongoing relationship with a local primary care or mental health specialist.

Our goal isn't simply to prescribe. It's to find appropriate treatment for the person sitting on the other side of the screen.

Can you order diagnostic and laboratory tests?

Yes. We can order or arrange many laboratory and diagnostic tests through local facilities.

Do I need to pay for another visit just to get my test results?

Usually, no.

Your test results belong to you. When results become available, we'll review them and communicate the results and our recommendations to you.

For straightforward results, we'll send the information to you at no additional charge.

If the results require a more detailed discussion, medication adjustment, additional evaluation, or a new treatment plan, we may recommend a follow-up telehealth visit.

What do I need for a virtual visit?

Not much. All we ask for is:

  • A smartphone, tablet, or computer

  • A camera and reliable internet connection

  • A reasonably quiet, private place to talk

  • Your current medication list

  • Your pharmacy information

  • Identification, if requested

We don't always need to see your ID, but we may ask for it when appropriate.

How long does a visit take?

Most straightforward virtual urgent care visits are relatively quick, often 5–10 minutes.

Of course, certain problems require more time. We don't rush complicated situations simply to fit them into a predetermined appointment slot.

When is an in-person visit required?

Telehealth isn't appropriate for every medical problem.

You may need an in-person evaluation if you require:

  • A hands-on physical examination

  • Laboratory testing or imaging

  • A procedure

  • Evaluation of symptoms that cannot be adequately assessed remotely

  • Treatment for a potentially serious or worsening condition

And some situations simply shouldn't wait for telehealth.

Chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, major trauma, severe abdominal pain, loss of consciousness, or other potentially life-threatening symptoms require immediate in-person emergency care. Call 911.

If your Careborne provider determines that you need to be seen in person, we'll tell you. You won't be charged for a visit that we determine cannot appropriately be handled through Careborne.

Can I get a free additional visit if I don't get better?

If your illness does not get better in a couple of days, we may, in some circumstances, call in additional medications.

On the other hand, if your medication request falls outside of the reason for the original visit (the disease process) or a time limit of 5 days, a new visit will be required.

We'd rather reassess you than keep adding medications to a problem we haven't properly reevaluated.

Do you guarantee a prescription?

No. And that's actually a good thing.

Medication is prescribed only when your provider believes it is medically appropriate.

We don't prescribe medications for performance enhancement, recreational use, or other non-therapeutic purposes.

The good news is that during your free initial consultation, we can often give you a reasonable idea of whether Careborne is likely to be able to help and what your expected cost will be.

How do I get started?

Click Get Started, tell us briefly what's going on, and our provider will get back to you rather quickly, usually within 5–15 minutes (8 am to 8 pm).

We call ourselves Careborne for a reason.
